6165 Communication and Collaboration, Week 8

During the past 8 weeks, you and your colleagues forged a collaborative learning community; you shared information and insights with each other and supported each other. As you prepare to move on into your specializations, take a minute and think about how your colleagues have supported you, how you have supported them, and what you wish for your colleagues as they continue on their professional path. If you wish, share your contact information so you can stay in touch and continue to encourage and support each other as you move through the program.

During the past eight weeks I have had the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions to a wonderful group of colleagues.  I hope that the comments and feedback I have given them have encouraged them to think more deeply about their discussion posts.  I have appreciated my colleague’s comments and questions on my posts, as they have enabled me to see situations from a different perspective.  I would have to say that the most thought provoking insights I received from this group of colleagues were the personal situations/experiences, which really helped me to understand alternate points of view and to consider how it relates to other situations.

I still enjoy looking at blogs of previous colleagues and sometimes leaving comments, as I have found significant value in the input of my peers throughout this program.  I plan on keeping this blog after the completion of my degree and my email address is jill.stein@waldenu.edu for anyone who would like to keep in contact.

  1. Jill,
I really enjoyed reading your blog and I hope all the best for you in the future. I also enjoyed reading our colleagues personal situations and experiences. I think we all can learn from each other when we look at these situations. During these eight weeks we had awesome interactions and I think that we have learned great things. I hope all the best for you and I hope to see you around in the next class! :)

  2. Jill,
I feel the same as you wit the personal experiences shared by everyone. I think hearing about situations people found themselves in rounds out what we learn in the classroom, kind of like how learning about child development was more interesting while working with children. I'm not sure what your specialization is but I hope to see you in a future class!

  3. Reflecting on Communication in the Early Childhood Field
    Dear Jill,
As the renown John F. Kennedy stated “We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” I would like to take the time out to say that I truly enjoyed being in this course with you. Your thoughts and insights have truly made an impact on the way I now approach my job. Thank you for your comments to my discussion posts and my blogs; they have aided in my growth as an individual and more so as an early childhood professional. As you move on to your next course and closer to achieving your ultimate goal of a Master’s of Science in Early Childhood Studies, I encourage you to take from this course all that you can as I have learnt that it is communication that makes and break a relationship. We as early childhood professionals, we foster relationships with many stakeholders and the manner in which we communicate with these entities will determine how successful we become in the field.

Thanks again for everything and I look forward to seeing great things from you.

This really has been a challenging 8 weeks but we all have learned so much from each other. I have enjoyed your blog, posts and look forward to another 8 weeks. I feel that we have accomplished the goal of learning how to effectively communicate and listen to families, friends, colleagues, and professionals all aspects of life. I wish you and my other classmates nothing but success as we continue this journey.
