EC Quote

While looking through early childhood quotes this one grabbed my attention right away.  I feel that a good portion of my job is being an advocate for play.  It starts at the beginning of the school year at the parent orientation and continues throughout the whole school year.  It's part of my job to educate parents about the importance of, and all that is happening while, young children are playing!

  1. As early childhood educators we spend as much time educating adults sometimes as we do children. Many parents need an orientation to help them better understand that play is child's work and the importance it holds to their development. I plan to borrow your quote to use with my welcome packets that parents receive when they enroll their child.

  2. I enjoyed reading your quote about play. Some people have stated that we just babysitters and all the children do is play all day. I explain that the children learn through play . They learn problem solving skills and they learn to share with their peers. They learn cause and effect. I will definitely print a copy of this to place in our packets for the first day of school.

I have really enjoyed reading your blog. Your passion as an early childhood leader has shown through your writings and your commitment to children is readily apparent. I hope to have you in additional classes to come.
